rscott1@bellsouth.net
Living in: Columbia, Tenn.
Birthday: Oct. 1

Are you married? Yes, over 21 years to Stacey Cohenour

Got kids? Tell us about them! Eric, 18, is our miracle child. He was born with seizures, which he had all his life until three years ago when a hemispherectomy brain surgery was performed. Since the surgery, he has had none, is off all medication, and with an extra year of high school, he will be able to graduate with the proper credits. He was manager of the Spring Hill (Tenn.) basketball team this past year and will manage both the basketball team and football team this next year. He was originally not supposed to live past 3 years of age, and he was not expected to ever be able to take regular high school courses or obtain a diploma. He loves sports.

Sam, 13, loves basketball and has played on the city leagues the last several years and will be trying out for the high school junior varsity squad this next year. He has been very supportive and helpful to his older brother and has helped in his older brothers development. He has a true heart, a flair for music and theater like I did, and has performed on stage with me at the Maury County Arts guild during both The Wizard of Oz and Gypsy, where I had leading roles in each. He was only 6 at the time.

Our youngest is Alicia, 4. She is full of life, will keep you in stitches and runs Stacey and me ragged. Don’t know what we were thinking, in our 40s when she came along, but she is determined to keep us young and is a welcome blessing in our family. She is a beautiful, long-legged little girl with curls.

Any grandkids yet?  Thank God, NO!

What's your job these days? I am a Data Analyst II holding the position of Data Mining Manager. My client and responsibilities are to BCBS FL. I manage the data we audit for them, maintain the SQL code and data layouts and work with new client data implementation among various other duties and special projects that come up from time to time. I’ve been there four years and two years ago won a employee of the month award for the local facility. I really enjoy what I do.

Your employer?  Aim Health Care Services Inc., an Ingenix company under United Health Group. Locally we have over 1200 employees with more than 5000 employees across the nation. Ingenix bought our company out June 1, 2009. The integration of our company into theirs has made us stronger and broadened opportunities. We offer many data services to over 75 percent of the health insurers in the country and a large list of health facilities. Ingenix brings a large international network to the table and we have only started to scratch the surface of what is possible. Even with the health care reform, we are positioned to continue to grow and succeed in a competitive environment. In May, the United Way of Williamson County presented the Best New Company Award to Ingenix Franklin for our outstanding efforts in our first workplace campaign for 2009.  Last year, during our United Giving Campaign, our employees donated $4,632 to the United Way, and the company matched the donations making our total contribution $9,264.

How did you end up choosing that field?  My sister-in-law works there and it seemed a good fit with my recently earned degrees. I felt that the health industry would always be a strong industry and that AIM was in a market that was not going to anywhere but up. I also felt good about working for a company that is trying to reduce the cost of health care by simplifying  data and communications between  providers, insurance companies, and those they serve.

Did you go to college? American International University online, started in 2001 finished in 2003 with a business management associate degree emphasizing International business relations and E- business with honors. I proceeded to obtain a bachelor’s degree in information technology focused on project management magna cum laude. I did this in a short period of time while running a remodeling business

What have you been up to over the last 30 years? After working as a codes inspector for the county, I went back into construction, then different sales positions, then into remodeling and repair where most of my clients were commercial or property management companies. Stacey and I have spent much time in the hospitals with Eric. I’ve been located in Columbia, Tenn., since 1986 and have been very involved with the community. I was with the Columbia Jaycees as an officer involved in and coordinating many charitable projects and later became Maury County Jaycee president the last year before turning 40. I’ve been a member of the Maury County Arts Guild and have been in numerous stage productions over the last few years. My wife is a career woman, currently working for a statewide home health staffing company where she holds the position of office manager/HR in the main office in Hermitage, Tenn.

What's the best Life Lesson you've learned since high school? Never let go of your dreams and don’t let anyone tell you never. Believe, act, and commit and your desires and dreams can come true.

What's still on your "bucket list"? Traveling the great wonder spots of the world, and to do something big for a group of people or entity so that I know I helped others to discover greatness.

What's your favorite memory from high school? The all-school musicals.

Favorite teacher/class? Mama Murry, the drama teacher

What's the funniest thing you remember from MHS? Tires around the flag pole

What would you like to say to everyone? Be blessed and may your journeys through the rest of your life be filled with rewards and doing for others.

Wish I could say something truly spectacular but really pretty much the ordinary raising a family and all the craziness that comes with that.  Adopted our son from Vietnam traveled to Vietnam for 3 weeks and explored the country while working through paperwork. Been to Mexico and South KoreaRecently started my own business, Divine Whimsy, designing jewelry and accessories (part of the proceeds go to help empower impoverished women to keep their families together)
What's the best Life Lesson you've learned since high school?
I think the best lesson I have learned (came from my mother at an early age) and hopefully have passed on to my children is the old adage “if you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”  And of course the quote from the penguins of Madagascar: “Smile and wave boys smile and wave.”

Lots of traveling Egypt, Africa & Hawaii are high on the list, get back into a size 8, try out a short haircut just once, always in search of the perfect salsa.

Are you married? How long?  Very Happily married!!  28 years on Dec. 10th to Becky (Tinnin), and still loving it!
Got kids? Tell us about them!
We've been blessed with three fantastic  children who we had the privilege of homeschooling over the past 21 years! This allowed us the opportunity to take "school" on the road as we traveled to 43 states (often in our Motor Coach) and 6 countries!  They are best friends and still love to spend time together!
Tyler (26) lives in Tulsa and has been on staff with U.S. Sen. Tom Coburn for the past 6+ years.  He spent a year in the Washington D.C. Senate office (was the youngest staffer on Capitol Hill - at the time!) and currently manages the Tulsa office and also is the systems administrator for all Coburn state office locations.  He is a gifted pianist and serves as church accompanist and sings in our church choir.
Jamison (20) still lives at home and operates our carpet cleaning company while I'm gone to Oklahoma City.  He is our budding Political Animal - serves on the county and state GOP committees, is founder/ organizer of the Muskogee Tea Party, has consulted on numerous campaigns.  He also has his own blog: www.MuskogeePolitico.com that has been referenced by major state newspapers and whose readership includes many state and federally elected officials and various VIPs, along with thousands of ordinary Oklahomans.  He plays the violin in our church orchestra and is a HUGE history buff!
Savannah (almost 18) is our "baby" and recently graduated from high school.  She helps in our family business, is a budding photographer (just won her 1st photo contest!) and stays very busy with her musical studies.  She plays both the piano and concert harp and uses her talent in various venues - from playing at weddings, banquets, receptions, fundraisers... to ministering to those in the hospital, nursing homes, or in hospice situations.  She also plays her harp in our church orchestra.
Any grandkids yet?  Not yet - still need the "other half of the equation"!!  Hope to, before we are too old to enjoy them!
What's your job these days?  I have been self-employed since 1987. Our business, Clean Pro is a carpet cleaning company that specializes in water and fire damage restoration.  In 2006, I ran for State Representative and won!  I was re-elected in 2008 and won again in 2010 when no challenger filed against me.  This has been a very "stretching" experience as it was definitely out of my comfort zone, but has been fulfilling in that I am able to help people solve issues they are facing and to assist in setting policy that will allow Oklahoma to prosper in the years ahead.  I am not a "politician", but strive to be a "citizen legislator" who comes home on the weekends and gets back to my REAL job. Sometimes folks are shocked when their State Rep shows up at their door to clean their carpets!
What have you been up to over the last 30 years?  Building our family business, raising our kids, working in our church, making memories, traveling, moving 13 times (hey, I married a home builder's daughter who gets "cabin fever"!)
What's the best Life Lesson you've learned since high school?

Are you married? Yes; 26 years to Rhonda
Got kids? Tell us about them! Phillip, 25, graduated OU with a bachelor’s degree in art with an emphasis in film.  He works as a production assistant for KOTV (Channel 6) in Tulsa. Timothy, 21, is a Senior at OSU, studying hotel and restaurant management.
Any grandkids yet? None

What's your job these days? I am the Vice President of Consulting and a Shareholder in CS3 Technology in Tulsa.
How did you end up choosing that field? In my senior year at MHS, I took a computer programming class. That experience was extremely positive and motivated me to study technology in college. While at Northeastern, I took a number of accounting courses in the college of business and found that accounting came easy for me. As I worked my way through school, I began to formulate the idea of a career that  would incorporate both accounting and technology. The route I followed to get there certainly was not what I envisioned but I am definitely doing what I wanted and intended when at NSU.
Did you go to college? Northeastern State University in Tahlequah. Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and minors in data processing and business administration.

What have you been up to over the last 30 years? Since graduating from NSU in 1984, I have held a number of positions in both public and private accounting, working for BKD and Arthur Anderson. While in my public accounting career, I became a CPA in 1987. I started my first management and technology consulting firm in 1993 with three other members. I left that venture for an opportunity in 1996, which has now lasted more than 14 years.
What's the best Life Lesson you've learned since high school? I learned my most important life lesson on an FBLA trip to Oklahoma City my senior year.  It was that we can each be anyone and anything we want to be if we want it badly enough, are willing to work and sacrifice to get it, and never let others set or steer your course.  It’s your life, get off your butt and live it.
What's still on your "bucket list"? Rhonda and I started our family right out of college.  As such, we did not had the time or resources to pursue the things we thought we wanted for ourselves for personal enjoyment.  However, now that our youngest is in his senior year at OSU, the time issue is no longer a constraint.  Because of this, we have been contemplating what we want to do, see and experience and find ourselves amazingly happy with our places in life.  The things that once seemed important no longer hold my intrigue.  We have had  the opportunity to travel the U.S. some and have enjoyed that.  We look forward to traveling abroad some day.

Favorite teacher/class? Dan Deetz (math and computer science) he opened doors for me into technology; Mrs. Freda Guthrie (Chemistry) she pushed when she needed, mothered when appropriate, and kicked me in the tookus otherwise to make sure I succeeded; Saundra Lightle (Business) for giving me opportunities via FBLA to travel to OKC and Washington, D.C. and plot the course of my professional career.
What's the funniest thing you remember from MHS? The steel-belted radial tires looped over the MHS flag pole the morning of the senior class picnic in 1980.

What would you like to say to everyone? Hello and welcome home.  Success is how you define and measure it.  To heck with what everyone else thinks.

Got kids? Tell us about them! Yes, two daughters Our oldest daughter Lauren attended Muskogee Public Schools until her junior year.  At that time she appied and was accepted to the Oklahoma School of Science and Math.  It is a residential high school in Oklahoma City.  She received an excellent education there and made many lifelong friends.  She is currently in her junior year at OU majoring in English and Chinese.  Our younger daughter Sarah is currently a senior at Muskogee High.  She plays on the golf team even though she doesn's care all that much for golf.  She and her best friend once got tired of playing and climbed a tree WITH THEIR CLUBS to hide from the golf coach.  I never acted like that...did I???  She does like volleyball and is currently the setter for the MHS volleyball team. She is also active in the youth group at First Baptist Church.  It has been great fun watching them participate in activities they enjoy.

After originally having a difficult time having children I had lots of extra time on my hands.  I decided to work on my master's degree.  Once I received my master's in special education I decided to continue on and get a psychometry certification. What's still on your "bucket list"?  To build a house.  I love looking at house plans and would love to tackle building a new house some day. Hawaii is also somewhere on that list too...maybe even above the new house.
What's your favorite memory from high school? Probably all the fun times I had in choir, band and drill team.  Loved the elective classes!
Favorite teacher/class? Ms. McLemore and Ms. Gayer's class.  They were both really fun teachers that aloud the kids to cut up and have fun. Isn't that the reason for going to school?  I also loved Ms. Harmon for not counting me tardy when I came back late from lunch every day.
What's the funniest thing you remember from MHS?  Probably the pune beta dune guys with their newspapers and rating sheets during our drill team performances.  Our class had a fun group of guys...irritating but hilarious! Nuuuuusshhh!!!

Did you go to college? OSU
What have you been up to over the last 30 years?  Since graduation I went to school at OSU, got married and moved to Oklahoma City, where I worked as the office manager for a construction supply business. After the birth of my sonI have been in the throes of being a wife and mother mostly.  Raising my children has been my greatest joy and my biggest frustration.  (Knowing what I know now, if my mother were alive, I would apologize!)  We moved to McKinney, Texas, from Oklahoma City in July 1992 and that has been home ever since, with the exception of a 3-1/2 year stay in North Carolina I have done lots of volunteer work at the schools and our church including PTA, Sunday school, committees, etc. My husband is self-employed, so I help him out in the office when I can.  I love to spend time with my family and friends and to work in the yard.

What is the best Life Lesson you've learned since high school? 1) Life is short;make each day count.  2) Tell people you love them every time you get a chance;you never know if it's the last time you will see them.  3)  Forgive and forget … it takes WAY too much energy to carry emotional baggage.  4)  Make a difference in someone else's life.  It will come back to you many times.

What's still on your "bucket list"?  I would love to see Scotland and Greece
What's your favorite memory from high school?  Too many good times ... probably couldn't publish it anyway!
Favorite teacher/class?  Mr. Jaynes American history class and working on the yearbook.
What's the funniest thing you remember from MHS?  Lisa Settle and I riding a tandem bicycle to school.  Man, it was great being young!

Any grandkids yet? Our oldest daughter is married, and we have a granddaughter, Emma who is 1. Emma is ONE of a kind!
  What's your job these days?
Carl and I have a business, Muskogee Communications, which is basically a family business. Whitney and Scott work with us, as well as little Emma. We sell, install and service Motorola two-way radio equipment as well as emergency lighting, or whatever a customer wants! We also maintain 911 equipment and have a few towers.
Because we have so much FREE time (NOT) we enjoy camping, four-wheeling, hunting and fishing with our kids, as well as my six siblings.
Did you go to college?
I attended OSU for one year, but decided to get married instead of finishing college. Didn't really know what I wanted to do, but I guess I have figured it out now! Kids, kids, and more kids! It will be long time before we have the EMPTY NEST SYNDROME!
What would you like to say to everyone?
I would like for every classmate to know that it took each and everyone of us to make the CLASS of 1980!
